SJRC Connect to the Overkill Battlebot
How to Connect to the SJRC Robot
Install QGC on the EUD (end user device) to use to control the vehicle
Power on the Robot
Connect battery
Wait a few seconds for the systems to boot
Connect the EUD to the WiFi hotspot created by the “Flight Controller”
Open the WiFi menu and use the following credentials:
SSID: ardupilot
Password: ardupilot
We must change this password and SSID from the default before any competition to avoid unauthorized access
Launch QGC on the EUD
Wait for QGC to auto-connect to the flight controller
After the connection is established it will download paramters
The green bar at the top of the page will load
You do not need to wait for this to control the vehicle
If the auto-connect does not work see the troubleshooting section below
How to Operate the Vehicle
Select a desired control mode from the drop-down towards the top left of the screen
Typical choices are MANUAL -or- ACRO
MANUAL is manual control similar to a standard R/C remote but the motor mixing is in the flight controller and the ESC limiting parameters still take effect
ACRO is a partially controlled mode where the robot will attempt to reach rotation rate targets based on stick input
Arm the vehicle
- Example QGC screen with live video and map
Click the “Not Ready” text in the top left corner of the screen
Click the “Arm” button on the bottom of the pop-up menu
Drag the slider on the bottom of the screen in the direction indicated to arm the vehicle
Troubleshooting
I am connected to WiFi and QGC is open but the vehicle will not auto-connect
Quit and reopen QGC
Check if another device is connected to the robot
The WiFi hotspot will support multiple devices connected but only one can “talk” to the vehicle
If another device is connected tell that device to forget this network, then reboot the rover
Check your device firewall
For application firewalls make sure QGC is allowed
For port based firewalls make sure to allow traffic to port 14550
Double check your WiFi connection
The IP address provided should be 192.168.4.2 (I think need to check)
