Obscura Cam Digital FPV User Guide

General

The Silvus Obscura Cam is a high performance video streaming camera. The SOC is capable of encoding in h.264 and h.265. The camera is suitable for low light and FPV use.

Mission Planner Video Streaming

  • Launch mission planer

  • Right click on the PFD (HUD)

  • Go to the Video menu

  • Select set GStreamer Source

  • Enter the command below

    • Change the IP address to the address of the camera as listed in the drone master file (10.x.y.25)

  • If the aspect ratio of the window is incorrect (4:3 instead of 16:9)

    • Right click on the PFD (HUD)

    • Select change aspect ratio

QGroundControl Video Streaming

  • Power on the aircraft

  • Connect directly over ethernet or over the network radio (Doodle, Silvus)

  • Open QGroundControl

  • Click in the top left corner to access Settings Menus

  • Select Application Settings

  • Find video settings

    • Set source to RTSP stream

    • URL: rtsp://10.x.y.25/

    • Aspect Ratio: 1.777777

    • Format: mkv

    • Check low latency mode

  • Click back in the top left

  • Look for video stream in the bottom left corner of the window

  • Move item in frame or move camera to test video for break ups and test latency

Accessing Camera Settings

These instructions are for Windows 10 only. Configuration of the Obscura Cam requires Internet Explorer

  • Connect to the aircraft over the network radio or through the ethernet port on the bottom of the aircraft

  • Open Internet Explorer (not Edge, Chrome, or Firefox)

    • Go to the IP address of the camera

      • It is on the Connection information sheet provided with the aircraft

      • It follows the IP address pattern of 10.x.y.25

    • Login using the credentials below

      • Username: admin

      • Password: admin

    • The first attempt at logon may fail

      • If you see the message below click the install button

      • If the dialog below pops up, click ok

      • Reload the webpage

      • Try logging in again if it fails continue on the steps below

      • Click the link for installing ActiveX that is below the login screen

      • If the dialog below pops up, then the WebCMS application must be manually installed

      • Click Save

      • Open the saved file

      • Click more info when you see the dialog above

      • Click Run Anyway

      • Finish the install

      • Reload the webpage

      • If the dialog below pops up, click allow

      • Reload the page

  • Log in again

    • The settings pages are now accessible

  • Go to the Config tab at the top

    • Click on Video Settings

      • Click on Streaming to change encoder settings
